The International Cricket Council’s (ICC) important meeting originally planned for March 25-27 has been postponed due to escalating tensions in the Middle East. The update was shared with member nations on Saturday, just ahead of the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 final, through an official press release.
In its statement, the ICC highlighted its strong partnership with the Qatar Cricket Association and the Qatar Olympic Committee, noting that collaboration has significantly contributed to cricket’s growth in the region.
The Doha meeting was intended to bring together ICC Board Directors, Chief Executives, Committee Members, and senior officials as part of the council’s regular governance activities. The discussions were expected to cover key issues regarding the current state and future direction of international cricket.
While the meetings are expected to be rescheduled in April, no specific dates have been confirmed. Attendance details remain uncertain, with Aminul Islam, president of the Bangladesh Cricket Board, reportedly in Melbourne, and Moshsin Naqvi, chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board, confirmed to miss the sessions.
Meanwhile, several ICC officials were present at the T20 World Cup 2026 final in Ahmedabad, the hometown of ICC chair Jay Shah. India won the title for a record third time, defeating New Zealand by 95 runs, with notable performances from Sanju Samson and Jasprit Bumrah.
