Actor and producer Patrick Muldoon has passed away at the age of 57. Reports indicate he died on Sunday, April 19, following a suspected heart attack.
Muldoon enjoyed a long and diverse career in television and film spanning more than three decades. He gained widespread recognition for his portrayal of Austin Reed on the popular soap opera Days of Our Lives, a role he first played from 1992 to 1995 before returning briefly in 2011.
He was also well known for his performance as Richard Hart in the hit series Melrose Place, and for his role as Zander Barcalow in the science-fiction film Starship Troopers. In more recent years, Muldoon expanded his work behind the camera, serving as an executive producer on films such as The Card Counter and Marlowe.
Born in San Pedro, California, Muldoon studied at the University of Southern California, where he was also part of the college football team. His interest in acting developed during his university years, leading to early television appearances in shows including Who’s the Boss? and Saved by the Bell.
Alongside acting and producing, Muldoon was also involved in music and served as the lead vocalist of the band The Sleeping Masses.
He remained active in the entertainment industry throughout his career, with his final film Dirty Hands scheduled for release later this year.
Muldoon is survived by his partner Miriam Rothbart, his parents, his sister Shana, brother-in-law Ahmet Zappa, and his niece and nephew.
