The Sri Lanka Navy proudly celebrated retired Rear Admiral Princely Liyanage for making history by setting three Guinness World Records through an extraordinary feat on a manual treadmill.
The challenge began on 20 March 2026 and concluded on the morning of 22 March, when Rear Admiral Liyanage completed an astonishing 48 hours of continuous running. The Navy emphasized that all necessary support, facilities, and guidance from the Ministry of Defence were provided to ensure the success of this demanding effort.
In the first 12 hours, he broke his own previous mark of 94.30 km by running 100.36 km. By the 24-hour mark, he surpassed the previous record of 188.13 km, covering 190.55 km in a single day. Ultimately, he completed a total of 316.7 km over 48 hours, securing his third Guinness World Record.
Beyond these three records, Rear Admiral Liyanage also achieved impressive additional feats: completing 100 km on a non-mechanical treadmill in 11 hours, 57 minutes, 18 seconds; running 100 miles in 20 hours, 7 minutes, 42 seconds; and completing 300 km in 44 hours, 40 minutes, 24 seconds. These milestones have been submitted for future Guinness recognition.
