Starting May 15, travellers from western India will be able to fly directly between Ahmedabad and Colombo, thanks to a new partnership involving FitsAir, City of Dreams Sri Lanka, Cinnamon Hotels & Resorts, and Walkers Tours.
The service will operate three times a week, offering seamless connectivity for Indian travellers heading to Sri Lanka’s integrated resort destinations. FitsAir, Sri Lanka’s first private international airline, will operate the flights, catering specifically to leisure travellers and tourists from Gujarat, a fast-growing market identified by tourism authorities.
Tourism experts say the route will strengthen ties between western India and Sri Lanka, making it easier for visitors to access Colombo’s resorts and other attractions while boosting the island nation’s tourism industry. By connecting Ahmedabad directly to Colombo, the initiative aims to promote convenient travel, support regional tourism growth, and encourage more Indian visitors to experience Sri Lanka’s luxury resorts and cultural landmarks.
This new service marks an important step in enhancing aviation connectivity between India and Sri Lanka, complementing ongoing efforts to expand tourism and leisure travel opportunities for both countries.
