Minister for Foreign Affairs of Australia, Penny Wong has urged the United States and Iran to maintain the ceasefire and return to diplomatic negotiations following the breakdown of recent talks.
Speaking in a statement reported by Australian media, Wong expressed disappointment that discussions held in Islamabad ended without any agreement between the two sides.
She stressed that the immediate priority should be preserving the ceasefire while reopening channels for dialogue, adding that Australia continues to support a swift and peaceful resolution to the ongoing tensions.
Wong also cautioned that any further escalation could result in severe humanitarian consequences and negatively affect the global economy.
