The UAE national para-cycling team kept up its impressive run at the Asian Para Track Championships 2026 in Tagaytay, Philippines, collecting one gold and two silver medals to take their overall count to three.
Abdalla Salem Al Balooshi led the team’s efforts, winning gold in the men’s C4 qualifying race with a calm and well-planned ride. He finished ahead of Uzbekistan’s Abror Ibrayimov, who earned silver, while Indonesia’s Muhammad Fadli Imamuddin took bronze. The result marked Al Balooshi’s second podium finish of the event, following a silver medal on the opening day.
In the women’s competition, Salama Al Khatri also contributed to the medal haul, securing silver in the women’s C5 1km time trial. She placed behind Uzbekistan’s Nurkabilova Jasmina, who claimed gold, while India’s Lisha Das finished with bronze. Al Khatri’s performance once again highlighted her steady form and experience on the track.
The UAE had earlier opened their campaign with a silver medal through Al Balooshi in the men’s elite C4 1km time trial, setting a strong foundation for the rest of the championships.
Speaking after his gold-medal performance, Al Balooshi said his success came down to careful planning and focus. He noted that the race required sharp concentration and smart timing, adding that he maintained a steady pace before making his decisive move at the right moment.
Overall, the team’s results reflect clear progress, especially in technically demanding track events that require both endurance and tactical skill. With multiple medals already secured, the UAE para-cycling squad continues to show growing strength and competitiveness on the Asian stage.
