UAE Announces Landmark Dates Factory Project

His Highness Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Dubai, has unveiled plans to establish the world’s largest endowment-based dates factory as part of a major humanitarian effort to tackle global hunger.

The initiative, launched under Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives, will see the construction of the “1 Billion Meals Dates Factory” in collaboration with key partners. The facility is expected to produce approximately 150 million date-based food portions each year, with a primary focus on supporting malnourished children and communities facing food insecurity worldwide.

In a statement shared on his official social media platform, Sheikh Mohammed highlighted the cultural and historical importance of dates in the region, emphasizing their potential as a powerful nutritional resource. He noted that the project aims to elevate dates from a traditional staple into a high-value food product capable of making a significant impact in the global fight against hunger.

He further reflected on the blessings of the date palm, which has sustained generations across the UAE and beyond, expressing hope that this initiative will extend its benefits to vulnerable populations around the world.

The ambitious project underscores the UAE’s continued commitment to humanitarian causes and sustainable solutions, leveraging local resources to address one of the most pressing global challenges—food security.
