The UAE’s National Media Authority has issued a warning urging residents not to record security incidents or circulate unverified information online, citing potential risks to public safety and overall community security.
In an official statement shared on social media, the authority emphasized that maintaining community safety is a shared responsibility and encouraged the public to rely exclusively on official sources for accurate information while refraining from spreading rumours.
The advisory highlighted that posting photos or videos from the scenes of security incidents could inadvertently reveal sensitive locations, expose daily routines, and disclose entry and exit points, putting civilians at risk. Additionally, such material could allow hostile actors to monitor movement patterns, crowd gatherings, or other vulnerable targets.
The authority stressed that responsible online behaviour and heightened public awareness are key to safeguarding both individuals and the wider community.
