Sri Lanka’s tourism sector continues to show steady recovery, with a total of 88,221 international arrivals recorded so far in April 2026, according to the latest data released by the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA).
India remains the leading source market, contributing 25,634 visitors, which accounts for nearly 29% of total arrivals for the month. Other key markets include the United Kingdom with 7,672 arrivals, Australia with 7,351, China with 6,333, and Russia with 4,682 visitors.
The figures highlight continued interest in Sri Lanka as a travel destination across both regional and long-haul markets, supported by improving connectivity and tourism promotion efforts.
When compared with the same period in 2025, where 174,608 tourists visited Sri Lanka in April, the current numbers reflect ongoing fluctuations in monthly arrivals while maintaining overall positive momentum in inbound travel.
From a broader perspective, Sri Lanka’s total tourist arrivals for 2026 have risen to 828,845 visitors, based on updated statistics up to February. India remains the largest contributor overall, followed by the United Kingdom and Russia, which continue to be among the top source markets.
The steady inflow of tourists is seen as a positive indicator for the country’s tourism industry, which plays a key role in foreign exchange earnings and economic recovery. Authorities expect continued growth in the coming months, supported by seasonal travel demand and ongoing marketing initiatives targeting key international markets.
