Ceylon Petroleum Storage Terminals Limited (CPSTL) has confirmed that the first crude oil tanker to arrive in Sri Lanka following the escalation of the Middle East conflict is scheduled to reach the island tomorrow (17).
CPSTL Managing Director Dr. Mayura Neththikumara stated that the vessel will deliver approximately 97,500 metric tonnes of crude oil, helping stabilise the country’s fuel supply.
He also revealed that a second tanker is expected to dock later this month, further strengthening supply levels.
In addition, a separate shipment carrying West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude from the United States is currently being loaded and is set to depart for Sri Lanka shortly.
Officials noted that these developments signal a significant improvement in securing consistent crude oil supplies an issue that had previously posed challenges for the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC).
With multiple shipments lined up, authorities say concerns over fuel shortages are now easing, ensuring greater stability in the country’s energy sector.
