Access Unlocked V2.0 Marks a Key Move Toward Sri Lanka’s Digital Future

Sri Lanka is taking a major stride toward becoming a fully digital economy, with the government targeting 100% digitization of all state transactions by 2030 and aiming to develop a national digital economy valued at USD 15 billion.

The Ministry of Digital Economy is spearheading this effort, working closely with both public and private partners to implement initiatives that will accelerate digital adoption across the country.

A significant milestone in this journey was marked with the launch of ‘Access Unlocked V2.0’, a digital payments program organized by Mastercard, held yesterday (25th) at Cinnamon Life. The event was attended under the patronage of Hon. Deputy Minister of Digital Economy, Eng. Eranga Weeraratne, and Hon. Deputy Minister of Industries and Entrepreneurship Development, Chathuranga Abeysinghe.

During the launch, the Deputy Ministers highlighted the importance of introducing affordable digital payment solutions for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to enhance financial inclusion across Sri Lanka.

The event also marked the South Asian debut of cutting-edge solutions such as Mastercard SoundBox and SoftPOS, powered by Mastercard Merchant Cloud. These tools allow small business owners to accept digital payments easily and at low cost, contributing to the country’s broader economic digitization.

Ongoing collaboration between the government and private sector is seen as vital for empowering businesses, driving sustainable growth, and integrating Sri Lanka more effectively into global markets. By promoting innovative financial solutions, the initiative ensures that entrepreneurs of all sizes can fully participate in and benefit from the emerging digital economy.
