Dilshan Madushanka joins Hyderabad squad as injury replacement for Brydon Carse

Sunrisers Hyderabad have brought in Sri Lanka left-arm pacer Dilshan Madushanka as a replacement for injured English all-rounder Brydon Carse for the remainder of the IPL 2026 season. The pacer is expected to join the squad for a fee of INR 7.5 million.

Carse, who was retained by SRH ahead of the 2026 auction, suffered a right-hand injury while batting in the nets ahead of their opening match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru. Despite initial hopes from head coach Daniel Vettori that he would recover in time, the injury ruled him out of action.

Madushanka brings international experience to the squad, having represented Sri Lanka in one Test, 28 ODIs, and 19 T20Is, taking a total of 70 wickets across formats. Although he was previously part of the Mumbai Indians setup in IPL 2024, an injury prevented him from making his debut in the tournament.

SRH’s bowling attack has been under pressure this season, especially with captain Pat Cummins also recovering from injury. Concerns were further raised by inconsistent performances from Harshal Patel and Jaydev Unadkat, leading the franchise to test new options.

In their recent fixture against Rajasthan Royals, SRH handed debut opportunities to Praful Hinge and Sakib Hussain, both of whom impressed by sharing four wickets each and helping the team secure a 57-run victory.

Despite mixed performances so far, SRH currently sit fourth on the points table with two wins from five matches as they look to stabilise their campaign with fresh bowling reinforcements.
