Primark announces launch date for third Dubai store at Mall of the Emirates

Budget fashion retailer Primark is set to open its third outlet in Dubai on May 21 at the Mall of the Emirates, marking another step in its rapid regional expansion.

The announcement follows the brand’s high-profile UAE debut at Dubai Mall on March 26, along with a second store launch at City Centre Mirdif on April 9. The quick succession of openings highlights one of the fastest retail rollouts seen in the region in recent months.

Aggressive expansion strategy

The upcoming launch underscores Primark’s ambitious growth plans in Dubai, driven by its franchise partner Alshaya Group. Multiple store openings within a short timeframe reflect a carefully planned market entry strategy.

Primark’s appeal continues to centre on its affordable pricing and wide product range. Known for its “treasure hunt” shopping experience, the brand offers trend-led collections across menswear, womenswear, children’s clothing, beauty, and home essentials—all at competitive prices.

Strategic planning behind the launch

According to earlier comments by John Hadden, preparations for Primark’s UAE expansion had been underway for around 18 months. Key elements such as store locations, supplier agreements, and product assortments were finalised well ahead of the official launch.

Despite global uncertainties, the retailer secured its supply chain early, ensuring inventory reached the UAE more than a month before the first store opened.

A significant portion of Primark’s products is sourced from Asia, enabling quicker turnaround times and, in some cases, earlier product releases compared to European markets. The Dubai Mall outlet, described as a global flagship, features the brand’s full international collection—a format replicated across its newer stores in the city.

Strong consumer response

Since entering the UAE market, Primark has attracted strong interest from shoppers, with large crowds and long queues reported at its stores. The combination of affordability and variety has resonated with bargain-focused consumers, reinforcing the brand’s growing popularity in Dubai.
