Renowned Sri Lankan filmmaker Prasanna Vithanage was appointed Chairman of the Jury for the Main Competition at the Moscow International Film Festival (MIFF), held from April 16 to 23, 2026, in Russia.

Widely regarded for his compelling storytelling, Vithanage has built a reputation for creating films that delve into complex human emotions, social realities, and interpersonal relationships. His work has earned critical acclaim both locally and internationally, positioning him as one of Sri Lanka’s most respected cinematic voices.
Throughout his career, he has directed several notable films that have resonated with audiences and critics alike. Among his more recent works are Paradise, Gaadi, and Oba Nathuwa Oba Ekka, each reflecting his ability to tackle thought-provoking themes with depth and sensitivity.
