Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to undertake an official visit to the United Arab Emirates on Friday, with discussions expected to centre on strengthening the long-standing Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two nations.
During the visit, Modi will hold high-level talks with UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The leaders are expected to review ongoing cooperation and explore new opportunities to deepen ties across key sectors, including energy, trade, and investment. Officials say the discussions will also reinforce the strong political, economic, cultural, and people-to-people connections that underpin bilateral relations.
Energy security is expected to be a major focus of the trip. Sources indicate that agreements related to liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) and strategic petroleum reserves may be finalised, reflecting the growing importance of energy collaboration between the two countries.
The UAE remains one of India’s most significant economic partners, ranking among its top trading counterparts and a key source of foreign investment over the past two decades. The visit is also likely to address the welfare of the large Indian diaspora in the UAE, which numbers over 4.5 million.
The UAE leg marks the beginning of a broader multi-nation tour. Following his engagements in the Gulf nation, Modi is scheduled to visit the Netherlands, where he will meet King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima, along with holding discussions with Dutch Prime Minister Rob Jetten.
The next stop will be Sweden, where Modi will engage in bilateral talks with Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson. The two leaders are expected to explore ways to expand trade and economic cooperation. Modi will also participate in a business forum alongside European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.
The tour will then take him to Norway for the third India-Nordic Summit, where regional collaboration will be on the agenda.
In the final leg of the trip, Modi will travel to Italy, where he is scheduled to meet President Sergio Mattarella and Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni to further strengthen bilateral ties.
The multi-country visit underscores India’s continued push to deepen global partnerships, with a strong emphasis on energy cooperation, trade expansion, and strategic collaboration.
