The U.S. state of has filed a new lawsuit against the administration of , challenging recently imposed global tariffs that could rise from 10% to 15%.
The legal challenge comes just two weeks after the ruled against earlier tariffs introduced under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA).
Now, the new tariffs—introduced under Section 122 of the —are facing another legal battle.
said the tariffs are hurting ordinary Americans, as rising costs on goods like groceries and clothing are putting pressure on families.
“The focus right now should be on paying people back, not doubling down on illegal tariffs,” Rayfield said.
The lawsuit, filed in the , is supported by more than 20 states, including , and .
Meanwhile, warned that tariffs act like an extra tax on working families, increasing prices while reducing purchasing power.
The states are asking the court to quickly block the tariffs while the case is reviewed.
