A luxury cruise liner, Mein Schiff 6, has arrived at Colombo Port for the first time, bringing more than 2,300 international tourists to Sri Lanka’s capital.
The vessel, sailing under the Maltese flag, docked at the East Container Terminal (ECT), marking its inaugural visit to the country. According to the Ministry of Ports and Civil Aviation, the ship carried 2,380 passengers along with a crew of 951 members.
Stretching approximately 295 metres in length and 42 metres in width, the cruise ship is among the larger vessels to call at the port, highlighting Colombo’s growing appeal as a regional cruise destination.
Passengers were greeted with vibrant cultural performances and traditional entertainment organized by local tourism authorities, offering visitors a glimpse of Sri Lanka’s rich heritage upon arrival.
Officials say such visits are expected to further boost the country’s tourism sector, with Colombo increasingly positioning itself as a key stop for international cruise routes.
