Legendary Canadian artist Joni Mitchell returned to the stage for the first time since 2024 after receiving a lifetime achievement honour at the Juno Awards, presented by Prime Minister Mark Carney.
Carney praised Mitchell as a cultural trailblazer who transformed songwriting and inspired generations. In her speech, Mitchell expressed her joy at being in Canada, while briefly referencing ongoing events in the United States.
She later joined a tribute performance celebrating her music, sharing the stage with artists including Sarah McLachlan, Allison Russell and Jully Black. Mitchell also took part in a singalong of her classic hit “Big Yellow Taxi,” delighting the audience.
Elsewhere at the ceremony, Drake paid tribute to Nelly Furtado, who was inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame, while rock band Rush delivered a rare live performance.
