Pet travel becomes more affordable as Etihad lowers charges

Etihad Airways has launched a limited-time price reduction for its “Pets Onboard” service, making it more affordable for passengers to travel with their cats and dogs in the aircraft cabin.

Under the new offer, the airline is charging $399 per flight segment for bookings and travel completed by May 31. The move comes amid growing demand from travellers who prefer to keep their pets close throughout their journey.

Etihad remains the only UAE carrier that allows pets to travel inside the cabin, a feature that has become increasingly popular among pet owners seeking a safer and less stressful travel experience.

The service allows small cats and dogs to remain with their owners in approved carriers during the flight, helping reduce anxiety for both pets and passengers.

According to Arik De, Chief Revenue and Commercial Officer at Etihad Airways, pets are considered part of the family for many travellers, and the airline aims to make shared travel more comfortable and reassuring.

He added that improving accessibility to the service is part of Etihad’s effort to enhance customer experience while maintaining care, comfort, and peace of mind throughout the journey.

Cabin rules and arrangements

All pets must remain inside approved carriers for the entire flight. Placement depends on the cabin class selected.

In Economy Class, pet carriers are placed under the seat in front of the passenger. Travellers who need additional space may purchase an extra seat for their pet.

In Business Class, pets are also accommodated with an additional seat, offering more space and improved comfort during travel.

The updated pricing is expected to encourage more passengers to opt for in-cabin pet travel as demand continues to rise.
