England Seal T20 World Cup Semi-Final Spot with Dramatic Win Over Pakistan
England booked their place in the semi-finals of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup after edging past Pakistan in a thrilling two-wicket victory in the Super 8s stage.
Pakistan won the toss and chose to bat first, posting a competitive 164 for 9. Opener Sahibzada Farhan anchored the innings with a well-crafted 63 off 45 deliveries, providing stability as wickets fell around him.
England’s chase got off to a shaky start as they lost early wickets, putting pressure on the middle order. Captain Harry Brook then produced a sensational counterattack, smashing a superb century from just 50 balls to put England firmly in control of the chase.
Brook was dismissed with only 10 runs still needed, triggering a brief collapse that brought Pakistan back into the contest. However, England held their nerve in the final moments, with Jofra Archer striking the winning runs to seal a dramatic two-wicket win.
With the victory, England confirmed their spot in the semi-finals. They will complete their Super 8s campaign against New Zealand on Friday, while Pakistan face Sri Lanka in their final group match on Saturday.
