Emirates Delivers Record-Breaking Financial Performance Even with Year-End Setbacks

Emirates has maintained its position as the world’s most profitable airline, delivering record financial performance for the 2025–26 financial year despite operational disruptions during the final month.

The airline group, which includes Emirates and aviation services provider dnata along with its subsidiaries, operates on an April–March financial calendar. For the 12 months ending March 31, 2026, the group posted a record profit before tax of Dh 24.4 billion, while revenue climbed to Dh 150.5 billion. Cash holdings were reported at Dh 59.6 billion.

Strong performance despite late disruption

The results came despite what the company described as a “challenging and disruptive” final month. Regional aviation was affected following geopolitical tensions in late February that disrupted commercial air traffic across parts of the Gulf region.

Chairman and Chief Executive Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum said the results reflect the resilience of the group’s business model, noting that performance across the first 11 months of the year had consistently exceeded expectations before the disruption occurred.

He added that rapid recovery efforts, supported by Dubai’s aviation infrastructure, helped restore operations quickly and maintain stability in key services.

Operations gradually restored

Following the disruption, Emirates and dnata have progressively resumed normal operations at Dubai International Airport. While passenger capacity remains below pre-disruption levels, cargo activity has increased to support essential supply movements across the region.

The airline reported continued growth in demand across global markets, supported by an extensive network and partnerships reaching more than 1,700 destinations worldwide. Passenger volumes and seat occupancy rates remained strong, with improved yields reflecting sustained travel demand.

Costs and global performance

Fuel and staff expenses remained the largest cost drivers during the year. However, lower fuel prices helped offset increased operational activity as capacity expanded.

Brand strength and global recognition

Emirates also strengthened its global brand position, with its brand value rising significantly year-on-year to reach $10.6 billion. The airline achieved a strong Brand Strength Index score, supported by global visibility and an extensive international sports sponsorship portfolio, including multiple major partnerships announced throughout the year.

Despite late-year challenges, Emirates said it continues to focus on long-term growth, network expansion, and maintaining its leadership in global aviation.
