Dubai Municipality is accelerating the transformation of Al Mamzar Corniche into a world-class coastal destination, with construction now in its final stages ahead of an anticipated opening.
The project introduces a range of new features designed to elevate Dubai’s beach tourism offering, including the emirate’s first women-only beach with dedicated night swimming facilities. Officials say the development reflects broader efforts to enhance public spaces while meeting future urban and environmental needs.

Eng. Marwan Ahmed bin Ghalita, Director General of Dubai Municipality, recently conducted a field visit to assess progress and ensure the project remains on track. Accompanied by senior leadership and engineering teams, the visit focused on construction milestones, operational readiness and supply chain efficiency.
Project progress
Dubai Municipality confirmed that the Al Mamzar Corniche Development Project has reached 88 per cent completion, marking steady advancement in line with planned timelines. The works are being led by specialised Emirati technical teams, with a focus on maintaining high standards of safety, sustainability and service quality.

During the visit, officials reviewed detailed updates from the Public Beaches and Waterways Management team, highlighting the scale and complexity of the development. The project is positioned as a key component of Dubai’s wider strategy to strengthen its standing as a global hub for beach tourism.
Marwan bin Ghalita noted that the development represents a new phase in public beach design, combining architectural innovation with environmental considerations and climate adaptability.
Women-only beach
A major highlight of the project is the introduction of Dubai’s first women-only beach, which will also offer night swimming. Designed to meet international standards, the facility aims to provide a high level of privacy and safety. The beach will be fully enclosed with dedicated infrastructure to ensure a secure and comfortable environment for women visitors.
The concept responds to growing demand for inclusive recreational spaces while enhancing the diversity of Dubai’s leisure offerings. Authorities have emphasised that the facility will cater to residents and tourists seeking a more private beach experience, particularly during evening hours.
Leisure features
Beyond the women-only beach, the development includes a wide range of recreational and lifestyle amenities. Plans feature walking, jogging and cycling tracks that connect various parts of the corniche, alongside dedicated fitness zones and children’s play areas.
Food and beverage outlets will be distributed along the beachfront, supported by service and health facilities designed to improve visitor convenience. Shaded seating areas will enable continuous use throughout the day and night, while designated spaces for seasonal events and activities aim to create a vibrant social environment.
A shaded skate park and beach activity zones are also part of the project, adding to its appeal for families and younger visitors. These elements are intended to transform the area into an integrated urban destination rather than a traditional beachfront.
Sustainability focus
Sustainability and climate resilience form a central part of the project’s design. Dubai Municipality has implemented measures to elevate beach levels and reinforce coastal protection, addressing potential impacts of climate change such as rising sea levels and erosion.
More than 500,000 cubic metres of sand have been used to enhance shoreline stability, based on detailed environmental studies. Officials say these measures are aimed at ensuring long-term durability while preserving the natural coastal ecosystem.
The development aligns with the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan and the Public Beaches Master Plan, which target a 400 per cent increase in the total length of public beaches. Authorities continue to prioritise accessible, high-quality coastal spaces that support both community wellbeing and tourism growth.
Badr Anwahi, CEO of the Public Facilities Agency at Dubai Municipality, highlighted that the scale of the project reflects a commitment to future-ready infrastructure. He noted that the development is designed not only to meet current demand but also to serve future generations through resilient and sustainable planning.
