Dhurandhar 2 targets Rs 2 billion at box office debut

Just three months after the release of Dhurandhar, Ranveer Singh and director Aditya Dhar are back to prove that both electrifying action and blockbuster openings can happen twice in a row.

With paid previews starting on Wednesday, March 18, and the wide release following the next day, Dhurandhar 2 has quickly become the talk of the film industry. According to Sacnilk, the sequel is poised for a historic debut, with domestic advance bookings already totaling Rs 86.80 crore and over 17.11 lakh tickets sold. Day 1 collections are projected at Rs 29.29 crore, rising to Rs 38.77 crore when including bulk bookings, while paid previews alone have pulled in an extraordinary Rs 42.71 crore, climbing to Rs 47.91 crore with block bookings. These numbers suggest the film could surpass Rs 160 crore in total advance bookings, dwarfing previous records such as the Hindi version of Baahubali 2: The Conclusion, where typical paid preview days averaged Rs 8–9 crore.

The film has already seen a strong response in Kerala and Tamil Nadu. Industry tracker Ramesh Bala told Indian Express that the advance bookings in these states are exceptional compared with other Hindi releases of similar scale. He added that the success of Dhurandhar 2 will depend on how the sequel keeps audiences engaged over its four-hour runtime, noting that the original’s freshness has set high expectations. If the sequel manages this, it could break lifetime box office records in both states.

At a high-energy music launch in Mumbai, Ranveer Singh called the film a game-changer for Indian cinema. “The future of Indian cinema will be decided by Dhurandhar: The Revenge,” he said, emphasizing the global buzz surrounding the film. Co-star Yami Gautam described the movie as “beyond extraordinary,” while distributors and exhibitors facing a slow start to 2026—are reportedly ecstatic. In response to overwhelming demand, theatres in Mumbai, Pune, and Ahmedabad have scheduled 24-hour showings, with some screenings starting as early as 2 am.

Running an epic 3 hours and 55 minutes, Dhurandhar 2 features a star-studded cast including Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, R. Madhavan, Sara Arjun, and Rakesh Bedi alongside Ranveer Singh. The excitement surrounding the film has reportedly prompted Jio Studios to approach Aditya Dhar about a potential third installment, with speculation that a post-credit teaser may be included to maintain momentum.

From record-breaking advance bookings to midnight screenings and fan frenzy, Dhurandhar 2 is not just a film it’s shaping up to be the blockbuster rescue that the 2026 box office needed.
