The Ministry of Transport and Highways has introduced a special bus service operating between Colombo and Kandy to support passenger movement during the Sinhala and Tamil New Year season.
Deputy Minister Prasanna Gunasena stated that the service will commence from tomorrow, offering an alternative mode of transport as train operations along the route continue to face disruptions caused by the impact of Cyclone Ditwah.
According to officials, the special buses will operate from the Bastian Mawatha Bus Terminal in Colombo, ensuring better connectivity for holiday travellers.
The ministry further noted that the service is expected to continue on weekends even after the New Year period, with a revised schedule aimed at easing congestion and improving travel convenience during the festive season.
