Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has announced a promising 15-member Sri Lanka ‘A’ Squad for the Asia Cup Rising Stars 2025 T20 Tournament, scheduled to take place in Qatar from 14 to 23 November. The team, led by talented all-rounder Dunith Wellalage, will represent the next generation of Sri Lankan cricket, featuring a strong blend of youth and experience.
Wellalage, the left-arm spinner who has impressed in both international and domestic circuits, will have the support of several in-form players, including wicketkeeper-batter Nishan Madushka, explosive opener Lasith Croospulle, and stylish top-order batter Nuwanidu Fernando. Middle-order stability will be provided by the dependable Sahan Arachchige and the versatile Ahan Wickramasinghe, while Sohan de Livera adds further depth to the batting unit.
In the bowling department, Sri Lanka ‘A’ will rely on the experience of off-spinner Ramesh Mendis, alongside young leg-spinner Vijayakanth Viyaskanth and all-rounder Traveen Mathew. Right-arm seamer Pramod Madushan, who has represented the national team, leads a strong pace attack that also includes Milan Rathnayake, Isitha Wijesundara, and Garuka Sanketh. Vishen Halambage, another promising all-rounder, rounds out the squad, adding balance and flexibility to the lineup.
Sri Lanka ‘A’ have been drawn into Group A, with Afghanistan ‘A’, Bangladesh ‘A’, and Hong Kong China as their opponents. Group B will feature India ‘A’, Pakistan ‘A’, UAE, and Oman.
The team will open its campaign against Afghanistan ‘A’ on 15 November, a match expected to set the tone for their tournament journey.
