UAE Geneticist Dr Mariam Matar Reveals She Is Biologically 28 at 50, Thanks to Regenerative Medicine

Dr Mariam Matar, one of the UAE’s most prominent geneticists, has revealed that despite being 50 years old, her biological age is just 28 — with her vital organs measuring as young as 16.

Speaking at the 6th Women in Technology Forum, Dr Mariam attributed her youthful biology to regenerative medicine and advanced science, stressing that it is “evidence-based, real technology.”

The founder of the Emirates Genetic Diseases Association explained that women hold genetic advantages over men due to their two X chromosomes, which provide resilience, enhanced analytical abilities, and greater longevity. On average, she said, women live five years longer than men.

Dr Mariam’s interest in regenerative medicine began in Japan in 2011 during her postgraduate studies, when she was struck by the vitality and longevity of her professors. A pivotal moment came when an “only 85-year-old” professor passed away — shifting her career focus toward the science of slowing biological ageing.

She boldly claimed that women are biologically superior in intelligence and longevity, urging women to be cautious about unverified supplements like ashwagandha. “By default, we as females are smarter, more forecasting, and better at analytics,” she said.

Celebrating her 50th birthday in September, Dr Mariam credited scientific technology that measures and slows cellular ageing rather than personal achievement. She also offered light-hearted advice to men: “If you have a smart boy in the family, give his mother a flower — 99.9 per cent of his smartness comes from her.”

Looking ahead, Dr Mariam predicted that girls born in 2021 could live up to 97 years with proper care, thanks to advances in biotechnology and reproductive science. She emphasized that the true goal is not just longer life, but longer healthy life.

She also highlighted how women’s hormonal protection, behavioural differences, and later motherhood contribute to longer lifespans compared to men.

On the issue of health misinformation, Dr Mariam urged people to seek reliable medical advice from licensed healthcare providers rather than social media trends. “Even misinformation can spark awareness,” she noted, but cautioned against commercialized health advice that ignores cultural and biological differences.

For Dr Mariam, regenerative medicine is not just about extending years but about extending vitality and purpose.
