‘This is one of the most highly anticipated summers of cricket in memory.’
Cricket Australia has unveiled the international cricket calendar for the upcoming summer, promising historic moments at the MCG under floodlights.
In a groundbreaking move, the iconic venue will witness a women’s Test match between Australia and England in January, marking the first such match in 76 years and the inaugural day-night Test at the MCG. The women’s cricket extravaganza extends to other major grounds, featuring T20 matches at the SCG and Adelaide Oval as part of the multi-format series.
The action-packed season commences in September as the Australian women’s team takes on New Zealand in three T20s followed by a series of three ODIs against India.
In November, the men’s team jump into action with ODI and T20 series against Pakistan before locking horns with India in a five-match Test series, commencing on November 22 in Perth. The series heralds the return of day-night Test cricket at Adelaide Oval, followed by matches in Brisbane, Melbourne, and Sydney. Notably, it marks the first five-match series between the two cricketing giants in over three decades.
Cricket Australia CEO Nick Hockley expressed excitement about the upcoming summer, highlighting the extended Border-Gavaskar Trophy Series and the multi-format Women’s Ashes as major attractions. The Border-Gavaskar Trophy receives a significant boost with a five-Test series for the first time since 1991-92, underscoring Cricket Australia’s efforts to enhance viewership and attendance nationwide.
Adding to the anticipation, Seven’s full digital rights come into play this summer, offering all Test matches, women’s internationals, BBL, and WBBL games exclusively on 7plus, providing fans with unprecedented access to cricket action.
