The Sri Lanka Navy has successfully evacuated 204 crew members from the Iranian naval vessel IRIS Bushehr near Sri Lanka’s territorial waters and safely transported them to Colombo Port, naval officials confirmed.
According to the Navy spokesperson, the rescue mission was carried out after the vessel was located close to Sri Lanka’s maritime boundary. Following the evacuation, all 204 sailors were brought to Colombo Port by Sri Lanka Navy personnel as part of the coordinated operation.
Authorities stated that the evacuation was conducted safely and efficiently, ensuring the well-being of all crew members involved. Further arrangements and necessary procedures are expected to be handled by the relevant authorities following their arrival in Colombo.
