A spiritually significant and inspiring journey is set to unfold across Sri Lanka as the Walk for Peace 2026 commences on April 21, bringing together venerable monks and devotees in a powerful movement promoting peace, mindfulness, loving-kindness, and unity.
Spanning 11 days, the journey will take participants on a sacred route across the island-from the ancient city of Anuradhapura to the bustling capital of Colombo-symbolizing both a physical and spiritual pilgrimage. Along the way, participants will not only engage in a meaningful walk but also carry a deeper mission: to receive and transport Sacred Relics of the Buddha and a sacred Bodhi tree sapling to the Hương Đạo Vipassana Bhavana Center in Fort Worth, Texas.
A Journey of Purpose and Devotion
The walk will begin in Anuradhapura and proceed through several culturally and spiritually rich locations including Dambulla, Matale, Kandy, Yakkala, and Kelaniya before concluding in Colombo.
Each day of the journey has been carefully planned, with participants covering distances ranging from 15 to 47 kilometers, reflecting both physical endurance and spiritual dedication.

- April 23 (Day 3): Matale to Kandy (28 km)

- April 25 (Day 5): Beligammana to Tholangamuwa (25 km)
- April 26 (Day 6): Tholangamuwa to Yakkala (33 km)
- April 27 (Day 7): Yakkala to Kelaniya (21 km)
- April 28 (Day 8): Kelaniya to Colombo (15 km)

The journey will culminate in a two-day public exhibition of the Sacred Relics at the revered Gangaramaya Temple on April 29 and 30, offering devotees a rare and sacred opportunity for veneration and reflection.
