Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has announced the completion of the ‘One Billion Meals’ campaign, which has successfully delivered one billion meals to 65 countries over the past three years.
Launched to fight hunger in vulnerable communities, the initiative exceeded its initial goal of reaching 50 countries. In a new statement made on Friday, July 4, Sheikh Mohammed also revealed that an additional 260 million meals will be distributed in the coming year.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), he emphasized the campaign’s long-term vision by stating that sustainable real estate endowments have been established to ensure continuous global food assistance in the future.
The One Billion Meals campaign is part of a wider humanitarian journey that began with the 10 Million Meals and 100 Million Meals initiatives. In Ramadan 2022, the expanded campaign delivered urgent food aid to displaced and crisis-hit communities in countries such as India, Jordan, Pakistan, Lebanon, Uganda, Kyrgyzstan, and Angola.
This campaign goes beyond emergency relief by building an integrated food supply ecosystem that supports long-term aid solutions. It also aligns with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goal 2, which seeks to end global hunger by 2030.
The UAE continues to demonstrate leadership in humanitarian efforts, using innovative models and sustainable funding to uplift communities most in need.
