Fleetwood Gears Up to Retain DP World India Championship Crown

World No. 3 Tommy Fleetwood is set to headline the upcoming DP World India Championship as he returns to defend his title at the Delhi Golf Club from October 15–18.

Fleetwood claimed the inaugural title last year after overcoming a strong international field, securing his eighth victory on the DP World Tour. The win in Delhi formed part of a remarkable run late in the season, during which he also captured the FedExCup and featured in his fourth Ryder Cup appearance, helping Team Europe defeat the United States away from home for the first time since 2012.

The Olympic silver medallist delivered a standout performance in Delhi, surging into contention with a strong stretch of scoring midway through the final round. Key birdies on the closing holes helped him secure a two-shot victory, sparking emotional celebrations on the 18th green where he marked the triumph alongside his son before lifting the Lotus Trophy.

Launched in 2025 by DP World in partnership with the DP World Tour, the tournament is co-sanctioned with the Professional Golf Tour of India. It boasts the largest prize purse ever offered for a DP World Tour event in India and is a key fixture in the closing “Back 9” phase of the Race to Dubai.

Reflecting on his previous success, Fleetwood described last year’s tournament as a memorable experience, praising India’s atmosphere, culture, and the challenging nature of the course, while highlighting the joy of celebrating the victory with his family.
