UAE locations feature on Time’s World’s Greatest Places 2026 list

The UAE has once again earned global recognition, securing multiple entries on Time magazine’s World’s Greatest Places 2026 list, with the newly unveiled Zayed National Museum leading the way.

Joining the list are Dubai’s beachfront luxury destination Jumeirah Marsa Al Arab and the innovative Surf Abu Dhabi, each praised for offering unique experiences that appeal to international travellers.

According to Time, the annual list showcases 100 standout destinations across the globe that deliver “new and exceptional experiences.” The selections are curated through recommendations from its global network of correspondents and contributors, along with submissions from applicants. The 2026 edition spans locations from the United States to Europe and beyond, all chosen for their distinctive appeal.

Among the UAE’s highlights, the Zayed National Museum stands out as one of only a few entries from the Middle East and the wider MENA region. Located in Abu Dhabi’s Saadiyat Cultural District, the museum opened on December 3, 2025, and offers a journey through 300,000 years of human history in the UAE. Visitors can explore six permanent galleries, a temporary exhibition space, and an outdoor gallery.

The museum’s collection features notable artefacts such as the Abu Dhabi Pearl and the Blue Qur’an, alongside a life-sized reconstruction of an ancient Magan Boat. Its design, created by renowned architect Norman Foster, is inspired by the form of a falcon in flight, adding to its architectural significance.

Also earning recognition is Jumeirah Marsa Al Arab, a luxury seafront resort known for its striking design, beachfront setting, and diverse dining options, including Japanese and Greek cuisine.

Meanwhile, Surf Abu Dhabi has been highlighted for its cutting-edge wave technology. Developed in collaboration with surfing legend Kelly Slater, the facility generates consistent artificial waves and has already achieved three Guinness World Records. It is also expected to become the first artificial wave venue to be included in a global surfing championship circuit in 2026.

Together, these destinations underline the UAE’s growing reputation as a hub for culture, innovation, and world-class tourism experiences.
