The UAE Ministry of Defence reported that its air defence systems successfully intercepted seven ballistic missiles and 16 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) launched from Iran on March 23, as regional tensions continue to escalate.
According to the Ministry, this latest engagement raises the total number of intercepted threats since the start of the conflict to 352 ballistic missiles, 15 cruise missiles, and 1,789 UAVs.
The attacks have tragically resulted in two fatalities among armed forces personnel carrying out their national duties, along with six civilian deaths, including nationals from Pakistan, Nepal, Bangladesh, and Palestine.
Additionally, 161 people have been injured, with injuries ranging from minor to severe. Those affected include nationals from a wide range of countries, including the UAE, Egypt, Sudan, Ethiopia, the Philippines, Pakistan, Iran, India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Azerbaijan, Yemen, Uganda, Eritrea, Lebanon, Afghanistan, Bahrain, Comoros, Türkiye, Iraq, Nepal, Nigeria, Oman, Jordan, Palestine, Ghana, Indonesia, Sweden, and Tunisia.
The Ministry of Defence emphasized that the UAE remains fully prepared to respond to any threats and will continue to take all necessary measures to safeguard the country’s sovereignty, security, and stability, while protecting its national interests.
