In an unprecedented fusion of science and fashion, the world’s first handbag made from lab-grown T-Rex Leather™ has been revealed, marking a striking milestone in sustainable luxury design.
Developed without harming any animals, the innovative material uses reconstructed dinosaur collagen to replicate T-Rex hide, bringing prehistoric biology into the modern fashion arena. The debut will take place in Amsterdam this April, where the handbag will be exhibited alongside a life-sized Tyrannosaurus rex statue, highlighting the intersection of ancient life and futuristic couture.
The project stems from a 2025 initiative involving VML (WPP PLC group), genomic engineering leader The Organoid Company, and Lab-Grown Leather Ltd. (BSF Enterprise PLC group). Together, they have been refining this breakthrough material, which is intended for future applications in high-end luxury goods.
The exclusive handbag has been designed by avant-garde techwear label Enfin Levé, led by Polish designer Michal Hadas, who is celebrated for blending artisanal craftsmanship with forward-thinking technology in fashion.
The unveiling will take place at the Art Zoo Museum on 2 April 2026, with the bag positioned alongside a massive T-Rex cast from the Naturalis Biodiversity Center. The juxtaposition symbolizes a unique bridge between prehistoric biology and cutting-edge luxury design, marking a historic moment for sustainable fashion innovation.
