Sri Lanka continues to experience a strong rebound in tourism, with 80,421 international visitors arriving in the country during the first 18 days of May 2025, according to the latest data from the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA).
India remains the leading source market, contributing 27,036 tourists, which accounts for 33.6% of total arrivals for the month so far. Other significant contributors include the United Kingdom (5,486), Germany (5,164), China (5,189), and Bangladesh (3,863).
With the addition of May’s figures, the total number of tourists visiting Sri Lanka in 2025 has risen to 977,305. Among these, 184,095 visitors came from India, followed by 109,675 from Russia and 92,539 from the United Kingdom, further solidifying Sri Lanka’s position as a preferred destination in South Asia.
This surge reflects growing global confidence in Sri Lanka’s tourism offerings, driven by cultural richness, natural beauty, and a renewed focus on hospitality and infrastructure.
