Sri Lanka has welcomed close to 700,000 visitors so far in 2026, according to figures released by the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority. Data shows that 692,744 tourists arrived in the country between January 1 and March 22.
India remained the leading source market during this period, contributing 135,070 visitors. Significant numbers of tourists also travelled to Sri Lanka from countries such as the United Kingdom, Russia, Germany, and China.
For March alone, arrivals between the 1st and 22nd reached 136,089, reflecting a steady flow of international visitors into the country.
