In celebration of World Food Safety Day, Sri Lanka’s Ministry of Education and the National Institute of Education (NIE) have launched the country’s first-ever digital food safety curriculum on the E-Thaksalawa platform.
The initiative, led by Deputy Minister Dr. Madura Seneviratne, is designed for children aged 8–12 and includes:
🧠 27 interactive learning modules
🎥 14 video-based lessons
🍎 Life skills on food safety and nutrition
“This isn’t just about food — it’s about empowering the next generation to make healthier, safer choices,” said Dr. Seneviratne at the launch event.
The project was developed with the support of the FAO under the SPACFA initiative, and funded by the European Union, marking a strong global partnership for child well-being and food security.
