The Cabinet of has approved a proposal to sign a visa exemption agreement with , allowing certain passport holders to travel between the two countries without visas.
The agreement applies to individuals holding diplomatic, official, and service passports, aiming to strengthen diplomatic relations and make official travel easier between the two nations.
Key Details of the Agreement
Under the proposed arrangement, eligible passport holders from both Sri Lanka and Nepal will be permitted to:
Enter, transit, and stay in the other country without a visa
Remain for a period of up to 30 days per visit
Officials say the agreement is intended to enhance friendly cooperation and remove unnecessary barriers that can delay official visits.
Cabinet Approval
The proposal to sign the agreement was submitted by the Minister of Public Security and Parliamentary Affairs and received formal approval from the Cabinet of Ministers.
Authorities say the move will strengthen diplomatic ties and facilitate smoother official exchanges between Sri Lanka and Nepal.
