The Meteorology Department has issued a warning for afternoon thundershowers in several regions, advising the public to stay alert for lightning and strong winds.
Showers or isolated thundershowers are forecast for parts of the Western, Sabaragamuwa, and North-Western provinces, as well as the Galle, Matara, Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, and Mannar districts after 2:00 p.m. The remainder of the country is expected to remain mostly dry.
Early morning mist may reduce visibility in areas of the Central, Sabaragamuwa, and Uva provinces, along with the Ampara district.
The department also cautioned that thundershowers in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Southern, Uva, and North-Western provinces, as well as the Kandy and Nuwara Eliya districts, could be accompanied by temporary strong winds and intense lightning. Residents are urged to take necessary precautions to minimize risks.
