Lahiru Udara will lead the Sri Lanka ‘A’ one-day team while Pasindu Sooriyabandara will captain the Sri Lanka ‘A’ four-day team on their Australia tour which will commence on July 4.
Lahiru Udara who got his test cap recently having good records in Sri Lanka A team has been first time appointed as the Sri Lanka ‘A’ one-day captain while Sooriyabandara once again gets the chance to lead the four-day team after successful leadership stint against South Africa, Pakistan and Afghanistan in UAE.
The top order batter Nuwanindu Fernando, spin all-rounder Sahan Arachchige, fast bowling all-rounder Chamindu Wickramasinghe, right arm leg spinner Dushan Hemantha, two pacemen Promod Madushan and Mohamed Shiraz are the other players who had experience with the National ODI team and they are once again included in the Sri Lanka ‘A’ squad.
Meanwhile Sonal Dinusha, Pavan Ratnayake, skipper Sooriyabandara and Isitha Wijesundara were included in the last National test squad against Bangladesh and they are included in the Sri Lanka ‘A’ four-day squad as well as one-day squad for this Australia tour.
The off spinner Nishan Peiris who was dropped from the National test squad is also included in the four-day squad. Avishka Gunawardena once again will accompany the team as the head coach.
The one-day series will be played on July 4, 6 and 9 while the two four-day games will be played from July 13 to 16 and July 20 to 23. All games will be played in Darwin.
