Sonic 4 Wraps Shoot With First Glimpse of Metal Sonic

Production has officially concluded on Sonic the Hedgehog 4, with director Jeff Fowler confirming the milestone and hinting at an exciting new chapter for the franchise.

Fowler, who has helmed all previous Sonic films, shared the update on social media, praising the cast and crew while teasing that the upcoming installment could be the strongest entry yet. Alongside the announcement, he posted an image from set featuring himself in the director’s chair with a figure of Metal Sonic — a clear nod to the villain’s anticipated role following hints in the previous film.

While storyline details for the fourth movie remain tightly guarded, the film will once again feature a star-studded lineup led by Ben Schwartz as the voice of Sonic. The ensemble cast includes Jim Carrey, Kristen Bell, Idris Elba, Keanu Reeves, James Marsden, Tika Sumpter, Ben Kingsley, Matt Berry, Colleen O’Shaughnessey, Lee Majdoub, Nick Offerman and Richard Ayoade.

The Sonic film series, produced by Paramount Pictures, has become a major box office success worldwide, collectively earning over $1 billion. Each installment has outperformed the last, highlighting the franchise’s growing global appeal.

Sonic the Hedgehog 3, released in December 2024, currently stands as the highest-grossing entry, pulling in over $400 million globally. The original Sonic the Hedgehog surprised audiences with its strong performance, while Sonic the Hedgehog 2 expanded that success with even bigger returns.

With filming now complete and anticipation building around the introduction of Metal Sonic, the next installment is shaping up to be one of the franchise’s most exciting yet. Fans can expect the film to race into cinemas on March 19, 2027.
