Sharjah has rolled out a remote work program for mothers employed in the government sector, aiming to strengthen work-life balance and family support, officials confirmed.
Hesham Suhail Al Qahtani, Director of HR Systems at the Sharjah Department of Human Resources, explained that the policy enables mothers with school- or nursery-aged children to perform their duties from home. The initiative received approval from senior authorities and applies across government departments, except for positions considered essential or operationally critical. Its goal is to reduce daily pressures on working mothers while sustaining productivity and service quality.
Authorities highlighted that this move aligns with Sharjah’s wider focus on employee wellbeing and family support, ensuring that government operations continue smoothly. The policy reflects a growing trend among public sector bodies toward flexible work arrangements in response to changing workplace demands.
