Power sector staff urged to remain on duty during transition

Two newly formed power sector entities Electricity Distribution Lanka (Private) Limited and National Transmission Network Service Provider (Private) Limited have called on electricity sector employees to continue reporting for duty and carry out their responsibilities without disruption.

The instruction has been issued to ensure the uninterrupted supply of electricity throughout Sri Lanka.

The companies noted that all electricity supply services have been declared essential through a gazette notification. As a result, employees are required to take all necessary measures to maintain continuous operations.

They further warned that failure to comply with these requirements could be treated as a serious violation under the Essential Services Regulations and may lead to disciplinary action.

Workers have therefore been directed to proceed with their assigned duties immediately.

Meanwhile, the process of issuing appointment letters to employees is currently underway, and authorities are working to finalize staff allocations in the near future.
