Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has expressed deep gratitude to UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan for the Emirates’ vital diplomatic role in defusing recent tensions with India.
In a phone call following a deadly escalation along the Line of Control—which included cross-border missile strikes—Sharif praised the UAE’s consistent support, saying the nation had “stood by Pakistan through thick and thin.”
The UAE President welcomed the ceasefire understanding and voiced support for long-term peace and stability in South Asia.
Tensions erupted after 26 Indian tourists were killed in a terror attack in Pahalgam, Kashmir, with India pointing the finger at Pakistan—a claim Pakistan denies.
Sharif emphasized that while Pakistan remains committed to regional peace and the ceasefire, it will staunchly defend its sovereignty, territorial integrity, and the sanctity of the Indus Waters Treaty.
In a follow-up post on X, PM Sharif referred to Sheikh Mohamed as a “dear brother” and reaffirmed strong bilateral ties rooted in diplomacy and economic cooperation.
