Sri Lankan cricketer Nuwan Thushara has withdrawn the petition filed before the Colombo District Court, which sought an interim injunction compelling Sri Lanka Cricket to issue a No Objection Certificate (NOC) enabling his participation in international franchise tournaments, including the 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL).
When the case was taken up in court on the 23rd, President’s Counsel G.G. Arulpragasam, appearing on behalf of the petitioner, informed the court that several matches of the IPL had already been completed.
Following this development, the petitioner decided not to proceed with the application and requested permission to withdraw the case.
Acting on the request, the Colombo District Court granted leave to withdraw the petition and subsequently dismissed the case, according to reports from Ada Derana.
