NOCSL to Hold Special General Meeting on March 14 Ahead of Key Elections

The National Olympic Committee of Sri Lanka (NOCSL) has announced that a Special General Meeting (SGM) will be held on March 14, 2026, to address key constitutional and election-related matters for the next term.

The National Olympic Committee of Sri Lanka (NOCSL) has scheduled a Special General Meeting (SGM) for March 14, 2026, at 4.00 p.m. at the Hemasiri Fernando Auditorium, Olympic House, Independence Avenue, Colombo. The meeting has been convened in accordance with Article 15.7 of the NOC Sri Lanka Constitution, according to an official notice dated February 17, 2026.

The current term of office of the NOCSL, covering the period 2022–2025, concluded on December 27, 2025. The International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) have informed NOCSL President Suresh Subramaniam that elections for the next four-year term (2025–2029) must be held before April 30, 2026.

The agenda for the SGM includes a roll call, the presentation of an IOC letter dated January 12, 2026, regarding the membership eligibility of affiliated National Federations, proposing a date for the upcoming Elective General Meeting (EGM), and appointing an Independent Election Commission in accordance with constitutional provisions.

Member federations have been instructed to nominate three delegates, including at least one female representative, from their current Executive Committee members. Additionally, in line with IOC directives, any NOCSL member or official currently under investigation or subject to sanctions will not be permitted to attend General Assembly meetings or contest positions in the forthcoming elections.

Nominations must be submitted on official federation letterhead, signed by both the President and Secretary General, and delivered to Olympic House on or before March 3, 2026.
