Maldives President Mohamed Muizzu has arrived in Sri Lanka for an official state visit at the invitation of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake.
This marks President Muizzu’s first visit to Sri Lanka since taking office in 2023, highlighting the importance of bilateral relations between the two island nations.
During his stay, President Muizzu is scheduled to engage in high-level talks with President Dissanayake, with discussions expected to focus on enhancing long-standing diplomatic ties, economic cooperation, and regional collaboration.
Several Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) are set to be signed, reflecting a shared commitment to strengthening partnerships across multiple sectors, including trade, investment, and development.
The Maldivian leader is accompanied by the First Lady, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, and a delegation of senior Cabinet ministers.
Meanwhile, authorities have announced special traffic arrangements in Colombo and Katunayake to facilitate the visit. Police stated that vehicle movement will be temporarily restricted along designated routes from this afternoon until May 6.
Motorists are advised to plan their journeys in advance and use alternative routes to avoid delays.
