Meta Platforms and Broadcom have entered into a long-term strategic partnership under which Broadcom will supply technology to support Meta’s development of custom-built artificial intelligence accelerators. The agreement comes as Meta continues to expand its global data centre infrastructure to support growing AI demand.
Following the announcement, Broadcom’s shares climbed by 3.4% in after-hours trading. According to both companies, the initial phase of the collaboration involves a 1-gigawatt deployment, which is expected to scale into a broader multi-gigawatt rollout over time.
The partnership will focus on jointly designing and scaling advanced hardware systems aimed at enabling real-time generative AI capabilities. Meta has described its long-term vision as building “personal superintelligence” tools to serve billions of users across its platforms.
This deal aligns with Meta’s ongoing push into in-house chip development. The company recently revealed plans for four new custom chips under its Meta Training and Inference Accelerator (MTIA) program, designed to improve AI processing efficiency across its services.
