The son of Mango founder and billionaire businessman Isak Andic has been arrested in connection with the death of his father, who died after falling from a cliff during a hiking trip in Spain two years ago.
Jonathan Andic, 45, was detained on Tuesday on suspicion of homicide. He was later brought before a court in Martorell, a town near Barcelona, while in handcuffs as investigations continue.
His father, Isak Andic, aged 71, died in December 2024 after falling more than 100 metres while hiking with family members in the Montserrat caves, a mountainous region near Barcelona.
Authorities from the Catalan regional police, Mossos d’Esquadra, confirmed the arrest, stating: “I can confirm the detention of Jonathan Andic on suspicion of the homicide of his father, Isak Andic.”
At the time of the incident, Spanish media reported that the Mango founder had been hiking in the Montserrat mountain range when he fell into a ravine. Emergency services, including helicopters and mountain rescue teams, were deployed, but he was pronounced dead at the scene due to multiple injuries.
A statement released by the Andic family on Tuesday confirmed Jonathan Andic’s court appearance regarding the 2024 incident, adding that legal proceedings are currently under a secrecy order.
“We are unable to comment further at this stage due to the confidentiality of the case. Our cooperation with the authorities has been and will continue to be complete,” the statement said.
The investigation remains ongoing as Spanish authorities continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the tragic death.
