Actor Mandana Karimi has announced that she is leaving India after living in the country for nearly 16 years. The actor shared the emotional update during an AMA session on her Instagram Stories, where she opened up about the difficult decision and the reasons behind it.
Replying to a fan who asked if she had left Mumbai for good and whether she would miss the city, Mandana posted a video from the airport and said, “I never could imagine or believe that I could say, but Goodbye India.”
She further added, “This is going to be hard. But after almost 16 years in India, it’s finally, leaving behind my second home… and here it is to new beginnings. New country, new home, new everything.”
When Mandana Karimi Revealed Why She Is Leaving India

When asked whether she was seriously considering leaving India, Mandana Karimi confirmed that she was, citing security concerns. She added that she could not reveal further details until after her departure.
Explaining her decision, Mandana said her outspoken support for Iran and her willingness to openly criticise authorities had played a major role. She noted that she had spent years fighting for what she believed in while living in India, but now felt the struggle no longer made sense.
The actress also opened up about the emotional strain her activism has had on her personal life. When asked whether she had received death threats in India, she responded simply, “Always.”
Mandana further shared that she felt unsupported throughout the ordeal, saying she did not receive backing from friends, the government, or the media.
She added that India no longer feels like home to her, despite having spent 16 years in the country, and said the challenges she faced were all in support of Iran, Javed Shah, and her people. She maintained that she would make the same choices again even without support.
Mandana Karimi was last seen in the Thar Netflix film.
